The Chalet was built in 1808 as a coaching station to welcome wary travelers, their horses, and carriages for overnight stays as they traveled across Switzerland. By 1862, the barn was added, initially serving as a dairy farm and in later years, a welcome venue place for hosting celebrations!

It was only in 1907 that the railway arrived at the Saanenland, ushering the region into the ear of leisure tourism. In 1932, the first ski lessons and challenges on skies in Switzerland took place on the gentle slopes in front of Chalet 1808.

In 2020, the chalet and barn were restored and renovated with love and care under the guidance of the Swiss National Historical Monuments Authority.
